INEOS Britannia Partnership Announcement

Putting the AI in Sailing: NAVASTO and INEOS Britannia Join Forces for America's Cup 2024

We are thrilled to announce an exciting innovation partnership between NAVASTO and INEOS Britannia, the formidable British sailing team challenging for victory in the 37th America's Cup.

This collaboration brings together the extensive expertise of NAVASTO in AI engineering and the sailing mastery of INEOS Britannia.

NAVASTO’s software products are designed to address the complex challenges engineers and industry managers face. We aim to accelerate development cycles by integrating advanced technology into real-world engineering experiences. In this partnership, we are not merely providing off-the-shelf solutions but integrating our technology to develop tailored race-winning systems.

Originating in 1851, the America’s Cup is the oldest international sports trophy. It is known for being one of the most challenging technical sporting endeavors, with only four nations having won the Auld Mug special trophy.

Sir Ben Ainslie, the most successful Olympic sailor and America’s Cup winner, leads INEOS Britannia as the Challenger of Record for the 37th America’s Cup, and the team is embarking on its third successive campaign.

Head of Fluid Dynamics Group at INEOS Britannia, Pierluigi Orsi, expressed the importance of speed and accuracy in the design office for the America’s Cup.

He stated:

“The America’s Cup is a race on the water and in the design office, with the speed and accuracy of our design tools having a direct impact on the race boat reaching its optimal performance and beyond. It’s essential that we can be fast and reactive in our development to enable race-winning design decisions. Therefore, we are delighted to be working with Navasto, who are pioneering the adaptation of artificial intelligence in engineering processes, with no room for error we need our CFD to be accurate, fast, and reliable and their tools deliver in all those areas.”

The 37th America’s Cup, set to unfold between August and October 2024, will take place in Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia.

This event, known for its technical expertise and fierce competition, stands as the ultimate proving ground for sailing excellence, this time with NAVASTO bringing its innovative solutions to elevate the performance standards.
